FAQ:

Q: Why the big deal? Just don’t post on the forums if it bugs you.

A: If you have ever once called technical support or account services for any problems in-game. You will know that the first thing they tell you to do is go directly to the forums and post for help. The forums require an active subscription for a reason; they are there for paying customers to receive help and support.

Furthermore, World of Warcraft is an industry standard for MMO’s. Every single up and coming MMO loves to call themselves the “Next WoW Killer”. If the RealID program succeeds, then not only does it lead to escalation (Of possible in game integration inside the game world itself) but other industries and in turn MMO’s will take their cue from WoW and force you to use your real name. To make sure that doesn’t happen we need to send a strong concise message to Blizzard that the RealID program is a disruption of our privacy and ultimately our game experience.

Q: Why spam the GM’s? They didn’t decide to implement this.

A: The GM’s are Blizzards in-game customer support. As a customer, if you have a complaint about the game then they are the logical place to go.

Q: Will I get suspended or banned for doing this?

A: Absolutely not, there is nothing in the EULA (End User License Agreement) about being banned for having a legitimate compliant about how your account and your personal information is handled.

Q: Is this effective? Wouldn’t quitting the game althougher be more powerful?

A: It absolutely would be. I fully support that decision. Hitting them in the wallet is probably the single best way to force a policy change. I personally have quit the game, and will not return while the Real ID program stays in its current incarnation. However I do not expect many others to do the same, much on the same token I would not expect people to give up driving just because they didn’t like certain street laws.
